I ditched my Sigma 28-300 which has excellent macro capabilities for the canon 75-300 but i now realize that that was a bad move - the canon's focusing distance is 1.5m! that means no more macro... oh well, i will just have to get another!

A Very Good Friday

As I'm entertaining an international audience on this blog, I have to bear in mind that not everyone will know exactly what is happening in this photograph, so i will offer a brief explanation; Good Friday is an auspicious date in the Hindu Calender and in the weeks running up to the day, many Hindu devotees observe intense fasting and prayer in preparation for this day, where devotees practice firewalking and multiple body piercings as an expression of their faith. In this photograph a devotee is attended to after being pierced. Devotees feel no pain during this time and some may enter a trance-like state, while said to be posessed by Hindu gods.
